Somer Valley Walking Festival

If you and your family enjoy exploring your local countryside and finding out more about the history of your community why not pop the date the 9th/10th September in your diary and join in the events and walks of the Somer Valley Walking Festival.

All walks and activities are FREE for this seventh year of the Festival. It is planned that there will be on Saturday 9th September a family walk from the Midsomer Norton Town Park onto to the cycle path finishing at the Amphitheatre where there will be nature themed activities for the children. Other activities on the Saturday will include historic walks in Westfield and Radstock and a longer walk along the route of the Coal Canal.

Get Seedy Saturday! – on the 2nd Saturday in March

seedysaturdaylogoSeedy Saturday! is an annual seed swap, potato day, and green fair for seed savers, keen growers, and anyone aiming for a more sustainable lifestyle.

It is an opportunity to share seeds, pick up some new and interesting varieties, exchange tips and experiences and find out more about local community groups and initiatives.

By growing, saving and swapping, gardeners can connect with likeminded local people, help to keep some wonderful traditional varieties alive, experiment and create locally adapted varieties and above all, have fun!

Scarecrow Trail mid July

Scarecrow Bo Beep

Each year over a weekend in mid July there is an amazing trail around the village of 50+ scarecrows created by residents, groups and businesses. It is organised by Timsbury St Mary’s Parish Church.

Flower Show in August

Flower Show2017 bloomsThe wonderful Annual Flower Show is held each mid-August in the Conygre Hall and is organised by the Timsbury Gardening Club.

There are lots of classes to enter for all abilities in growing, cooking and crafts for all ages, so start planning now! Anyone can do it and you do not need to be member of the Society, but new members are welcome at any time, and help with this great show is always needed too.

Grow Timsbury

GrowTimsburyLogoBetween April and November the village benefits from its very own popular monthly market.  On the last Saturday of the month, the Conygre field hosts between 15-20 stalls selling local food & drink (with some crafts, plants & flowers) all grown or produced within a 20 mile radius.  Guest stalls, a pop-up café, the Repair Room and themed events complete the line-up.  Visit www.growtimsbury.org.uk for all the dates and details.

The popular annual pantomime in the great tradition before Christmas is one of the productions the Timsbury Theatre Group,

Christmas

Open Air Carols for everyone to join in are held by the Christmas tree in late December organised by the local churches, accompanied by the MSN Silver Band.

The Little Christmas Pop up Shop by local artists and crafts people.

Annual Village Meetings

Each year in April or May this open meeting is held for Timsbury Parish Council to report on its activities for the previous year to end of March. The Conygre Trust which manages the Conygre Hall and recreation field also reports on its year. It is also a chance for residents to raise questions about any topic about the village.
