Youth

Last updated: 05/07/2023

Many sports groups do a great job with young people such as football, cricket and badminton clubs.

Youth Connect SW

They have 2 youth workers supporting young people each week. During Covid 19 restrictions this means walking around the village talking with young people and doing various activities when possible. In normal times they work out of their specially-built MyBus van in the Conygre Hall car park for activities.

Friday Youth Club at the YMCA

Normally there is a Friday Night Youth Club for 11-14s (School Year 7-9) as well as a weekly Cooking Club (age 12-15) at the YMCA (see posters for more details).

The service is run by Jane Van Haaps (who is employed by Lux Youth Project), in conjunction with St Mary’s church and local volunteers.

Even with the current restrictions, 1:1 and small group work is available for those who need it.

For more details please contact jane@bathyfc.co.uk/ tel 07483 156995

The Parish Council supports the two services above because Youth Workers are fully trained in their professional role of supporting young people within the context of their families and community. They have formal links with B&NES Child Protection Services and the Police.

High Littleton Scouts

We are an active group with roughly 85 youth members, both male and female. Our weekly meetings are normally held in the Methodist Church at High Littleton but we try to be outside as much as possible.

We have one Beaver Colony for 6-8 years olds.

Two Cub Packs for 8 -10.5 years olds.

One Scout Troop for 10.5 – 14 year olds.

The weekly meetings are  based upon the scout association values and programme, so we all have safe fun and learn some life skills. That includes the Adult leaders and helpers as well.

During the pandemic we have been running the meetings via zoom with the National Scout Association leading the way with ideas and instructions on presenting the programme on-line.

When we were able we went back to face to face meetings outdoors in smaller groups. Which is where I guess we will be when things start to get back to normal.

For more information about joining the group, be it Adult or Youth Membership please
