There was last-over agony for Timsbury 1st XI who were beaten by one wicket away to Pak Bristolians in the Bristol and District League Senior Division. Chasing the visitors’ total of 210 the Bristol side faced the last over needing eight runs to win. With four balls left Abdul Sami was run out by Gary Pearcy but with just two balls remaining Qaisar Shahbaz struck a massive six to win the contest for the home side.
Earlier Pearcy had led a much-improved batting performance from Timsbury with a fine knock of 57 and with Mark Sage (55) also reaching his half-century and useful contributions from Sol Thompson (27), Jon Strand (22) and Jack Williams (21) the visitors were able to set a challenging total. Subhan Razaq took 4-36 for the home side.
After an early setback Pak Bristolians prospered thanks to the batting of Israfeel Farooq (60), Taimour Warraich (47) and Qasir Abass (36) but Timsbury hit back with tight bowling from Kev Sibley (2-20), Strand (2-29) and Sam Hoddinott (2-34) only to finish just short.
There was no better news for Timsbury 3rd XI who were beaten by 60 runs away to Bradley Stoke 4th XI in the Bristol and District League Division 13. After being asked to bat first the home side finished their 40 overs on 172-7. Jeganath Gandhi Rajamohan was top scorer with 51 before being run out by Ben Smith while Neil Hulford was Timsbury’s most successful bowler with 2-30. Despite knocks of 38 from George Webb, 22 from Cory Versfeld and 20 from Hulford the visitors finished well short. There were three wickets each for Joe Young and Samarth Kadaba.
