It was a much better weekend for both Timsbury 1st XI and 2nd XI with two outstanding wins although the third team went down at home to Pucklechurch 2nd XI.
Timsbury faced a daunting prospect at home to second in the table Bristol West Indian Phoenix in the Bristol and District League Senior Division but a fine all-round performance saw them come out on top by 17 runs. After being asked to bat first the home side lost two early wickets but a positive third wicket partnership between skipper Jon Strand (33) and Jack Williams (48) revived their fortunes. The good work was carried on by Jesse Bishop and Sol Thompson who have both struck rich veins of form. Their sixth wicket stand of 67 helped Timsbury to a challenging 214-7 after their 45 overs. Thompson was eventually out for 22 with Bishop dismissed from the last ball of the innings for an excellent 79.
In reply the visitors lost two early wickets but a stand of 93 between the dangerous Jack Baber and Cole Pierre put their side in a strong position before Oli Hulbert and Gary Pearcy sent them back to the pavilion thanks to fine catches from wicket-keeper Adam Brinkworth. The visitors maintained a good run rate and remained in the game throughout but Timsbury took some vital catches and wrapped up the game when last man Rashard Robinson was run out with the total on 197. Hulbert bowled consistently well to take 3-34, Pearcy finished with 2-35 and Kev Sibley 2-46.
Timsbury 2nd XI were involved in a thriller away to Pucklechurch winning by five wickets off the last ball of the match in the Bristol and District League Division 5. It was a game that could boast two centuries and saw Timsbury field skipper Ben Hosford and his two sons and Graeme Webb and his two sons.
Batting first the home side compiled a formidable 235-5 from their 40 overs mainly thanks to opener Ryan Watts who carried his bat for an unbeaten 132. The youngest of the Hosford family Liam was by far the best of the Timsbury attack with figures of 3-15 from his six overs. Adam Workman (30) and Cory Versfeld (34) gave Timsbury a solid start in reply but then it was left to the Webb family to take over. Dad Graeme and elder son George put together an excellent stand of 134 and when George was out for 46 Graeme finished the job off striking the winning runs off the last ball of the innings to end undefeated on 111.
There was some consolation for the Pucklechurch club when their 2nd XI visited Timsbury 3rd XI in the Bristol and District League Division 13 and won by 29 runs. . After being asked to bat first the visitors made 193-7 from their 40 overs with Luke Rivers undefeated on 60. There were two wickets each for Russell King and Matthew Thorpe. Dan Nesbitt then hit a sparkling 78 for the home side but it was not enough and they finished on 164-9.
