Timsbury Athletic celebrated another impressive season when it held its annual Presentation Night in the Cricket Clubroom. The first team finished a highly-creditable fourth in the Somerset County League Premier League and reached the semi-finals of the League Cup. Not to be outdone Timsbury Reserves finished runners-up in the Mid-Somerset League Premier Division and reached the final of the Paulton Hospital Cup before losing out to Wells City A.
It proved to be a good night for the Sobers brothers. Rico won the Players’ Player award for the second year in a row while Pele in his first season at the club collected the Roy Lockyer Trophy after being voted the Supporters’ Player of the Year. The trophy awarded to the leading scorer in memory of Alan Thomas went this year to Ellis Hancock who narrowly edged out the previous winner Rhys Cook. Alan’s daughter Nicky Brice was again in attendance to make the award.
Rio Bryant was young player of the year and collected a new trophy in memory of the late President Chris Fear from Chris’ daughter Jenny. Dom Barresi was the Manager’s Player of the Year. Janet Sage who has raised thousands of pounds for the club touring the pitch each home game with the collection box was a popular recipient of the James Adams Memorial Trophy as Clubperson of the Year.
The Reserve team just missed out on their second successive championship but it proved to be another enjoyable year for them. Mark Andrade was voted Players’ Player of the Year. The Manager’s Player of the Year was Cain Murphy.
