Timsbury missed a great opportunity to end their search for a first win of the season in the Bristol and District League Division 1 when they went down to a 24-run home defeat against second in the table Lansdown second eleven. After bowling first they had their high-flying Bath opponents in all sorts of trouble at 62-8 thanks mainly to a fine early spell from Sam Hoddinott who took 3-16 in his eight overs and the ever-consistent Martin Richards. Sam Bowery then changed the complexion of the game with a quickfire 24. With good support from Jackson Hamilton (22 not out) he saw Lansdown through to 105 with Richards finishing with 5-17.
In reply Lewis Redwood and Jon Strand made early encouraging inroads into the target and at 53-2 it was Timsbury’s game to lose. Enter Bowery who proceeded to follow up his batting exploits with a fine spell of leg spin bowling as Timsbury contrived to lose significant wickets. A late effort from Freddie Hosford gave the home side hope but from 71-5 they subsided to 81 all out with Bowery finishing with 4-19 and Harry Veal supporting well with 3-27.
Timsbury’s second eleven made a solid start in their away fixture against Bristol Eagles in the Bristol and District League Division 6 with an opening stand of 45 between Cory Versfeld and Josh Tucker . Thereafter, however, the innings fell apart with only Dan Hill reaching double figures as they collapsed to 87 all out with Khaleel Shaik taking 4-1. Albie Sage took two wickets for the visitors but the Eagles cruised to a seven wicket win in just over 20 overs.
Timsbury’s third eleven gave the club something to celebrate with a convincing seven-wicket victory at home to Bristol Lions in the Bristol and District League Division 9 East. The visitors made an excellent start with an opening stand of 80 between Hussain (31) and Ariz (30) but the club’s young brigade then took over with Daniel Gifford (4-38) and Milo Sage (2-30) helping to dismiss the Lions for 123. Matt Ball (49 not out) and Jake Brooks (34) followed up with a confident batting display that saw Timsbury safely home.
