Timsbury go into June still searching for their first win of the season in the  Bristol and District League Division 1 after losing their latest match at home to league leaders Lodway by 130 runs. Batting first the visitors made a strong start and thanks to Adam Robson (61) and Ben Stitfall (32) reached 98-1 before Timsbury struck back taking five wickets for just 19 runs .

From 117-6 Lodway rallied, however, and when their final wicket had fallen had reached an imposing 201. Jon Strand was Timsbury’s most successful bowler with 4-49.

Timsbury’s reply could hardly have gone worse losing two wickets in the very first over. Thereafter it was very much an uphill battle and despite a late flourish from the Hosford brothers Freddie and Liam, the home side were dismissed for 71 in just over 18 overs. Tobias Rice took 5-23 for Lodway and Joe Crutchley 3-39.

It was a much better day for Timsbury’s second eleven who notched up their first win of the season with a thrilling one-wicket win away to Lodway’s second string. A strong bowling performance and a much improved fielding display saw Timsbury dismiss the home side for 125. Sam Hoddinott did the early damage taking 3-29 before Tom Parfitt completed the job with a fine spell of 5-30. Lodway were thankful for knocks of 40 from Imran Hasan and 36 from Keiran Parkhouse.

Hoddinott followed up his bowling contribution with an important knock of 25 but it was skipper Adam Workman who proved to be the hero of the hour guiding his side home with an unbeaten 30.

Timsbury’s third eleven  produced a battling performance at home to second in the table Lansdown third eleven but were eventually  beaten by  56 runs  in the Bristol and District League Division 9 East. Batting first the visitors compiled 190-8 from their 40 overs with Williams holding the innings together with a fine knock of 92. Callum Webb bowled well for Timsbury taking 3-40. Will Rawlings led the Timsbury response with 37 valuable runs but Lindsley (4-23) helped dismiss the home side for 134.

On a day when so much went right off the pitch Timsbury failed to match it on the field losing by seven wickets at home to Bath 3rd XI  in the  Bristol and District League Division 1. The club had invited life members, vice-presidents and sponsors to share the afternoon at the club and they were able to witness the new patio that had been laid in front of the changing rooms spearheaded by skipper Jesse Bishop.

Batting first the home side found life difficult against an impressive Bath attack. Only Freddie Hosford (22 not out) and Kev Sibley (21) made notable contributions and Timsbury were grateful for a generous donation of 34 wides in their meagre total of 112. Jacob Lewis (4-20) and Luke Welsh (3-17) led the way for the visitors. Bath were never in serious trouble chasing the total and knocks of 41 not out from Ben Harper, 25 from Sam Simmons and 22 from Samuel Preece saw them to victory with over 15 overs to spare.

Timsbury’s second eleven also found the going tough in their away fixture with Bath’s fourth eleven in the Bristol and District League Division 6 losing by 96 runs.  Will Poulton (82) and George Wylie with 70 starred for the home side as they compiled a match winning total of 243-8. Henry Webb and Ben Smith both picked up two wickets for the visitors. Timsbury skipper Adam Workman responded with an unbeaten 46 and Josh Tucker returned from his honeymoon to hit 27 but the visitors finished well short on 147-8. Wylie capped an excellent all-round performance with 4-18 and Bharath Chandrasekaran took 3-28 for the Bath side.

It was also a long afternoon in the sun for Timsbury’s third eleven who were beaten by 148 runs at home to Hampset thirds in the Bristol and District League Division 9 East. Christopher Kindon with 102, Lewis Bishop (52 not out) and Jon Dolman with 38 all prospered in the summer sunshine as the visitors amassed a formidable total of 259-5. Timsbury’s youngest playing member Daniel Gifford bowled well to take 2-35. In reply the home side were soon in trouble but a defiant stand late on between teenagers Oscar Mallon who hit two big sixes in his score of 30 and Milo Sage (14) delayed the inevitable. For Hampset Sarfaraz Mahar took 3-14 and Deneil Daniels 3-29.

For the second week in a row there was a tense finish to Timsbury’s latest match in the Bristol and District League Division 1 but once again they just came out on the wrong side of a low-scoring encounter, this time away to Cleeve.

In a match reduced to 26 overs after a persistent spell of rain, the visitors made a dreadful start losing their first four wickets for just 7 runs. Gary Pearcy then led a spirited comeback with a fine knock of 48 but Henry Webb was the only other batsman to reach double figures as Timsbury were dismissed for 104. Glenn Lewin was Cleeve’s leading bowler with 3-13.

Despite setting a modest total Timsbury put in battling performance in the field and Cleeve struggled to get over the line. Liam Hosford led the way with 3-16 with good support from Sam Hoddinott who took a crucial 3-15 in his first league game of the season. At 84-8 the game was wide open but in the end the home side scrambled home with just three balls to spare.

Timsbury’s second eleven  also mounted a strong comeback in their home match with Bristol New Eleven before going down by two wickets in the Bristol and District League Division 6. After a difficult start Rob Clothier with 44 and Yosef Parvez saw Timsbury set a challenge of 153. At 67-1 the visitors looked well on their way to a comfortable win but Parvez with 3-36 and Lee Henderson (3-51) saw the home side come right back into the match. In the end Timsbury were left to rue crucial dropped catches as they just failed to clinch their first success of the season.

There was no better news for Timsbury’s third eleven who were beaten by six wickets away to Brislington’s fourth eleven in the Bristol and District League Division 9 East. Batting first Timsbury were indebted to Steve Ford who scored 47 in their total of 106-8 with only Milo Sage the other player to reach double figures.  Matt Ball then took 2-33 for the visitors but Jacob Willie (28) and Aliyan Sarwar (27) saw the home side to victory. Despite the defeat congratulations must go to the club for managing to put out three teams on an afternoon when there were a huge number of players unavailable.

There was a nail-biting finish to Timsbury’s first home match in the  Bristol and District League Division 1 but in the end they were 0n the wrong end of a low scoring contest against Hanham. After scoring 130 the home side reduced the visitors to 126-9 but with just two balls remaining Hanham scrambled over the line.

After batting first Timsbury struggled on a difficult pitch. Mark Sage was going well before he was dismissed for 25 with an unplayable delivery that shot along the ground. Thereafter Jez Hare did his best to keep the ship afloat with a battling 44 while a generous donation of 37 extras boosted the total to 130. George Stone with 3-33 was Hanham’s most successful bowler.

In reply the visitors were well served by Ben Brown who made 35 but the Timsbury spinners made them work hard for every run. Freddie Hosford took 2-12 in his eight overs, Jon Strand 2-25, Martin Richards 1-21 in a typically miserly spell and Hare completed a fine all-round display with 3-24. In the end it was not quite enough.

Timsbury’s second eleven  were well beaten by eight wickets away to Golden Hill fourth eleven  in the Bristol and District League Division 6. Going in first Timsbury were dismissed for a disappointing 111. Dan Hill did his best to keep his side in contention with a fine knock of 42 and Mike Reynolds was 24 not out at the close of the innings but the total never looked to be enough. Dan McNamara took 4-18 for the home side. Zac Patterson (52 not out) and Ben Milsom (31) then eased Golden Hill home with Albie Sage and Reynolds taking the two wickets to fall.

Timsbury’s third eleven  amassed an impressive total of 201-6 at home to Old Park in the Bristol and District League Division 9 East but it was not quite enough with the visitors winning by six wickets. Captain Chris Rawlings led the way for the home side with a knock of 62, Paul Sage was 58 not out and Matt Ball contributed 51. Chris Tucker with 57 and Craig Meredith (53) saw the visitors home with Daniel Gifford taking 2-21 for Timsbury.
