25/09/2023 by Timsbury Parish Council

Timsbury Athletic celebrated their first home game of the season in the Somerset County League Premier Division with a comfortable 5-0 victory over neighbours Clutton. The young inexperienced visitors kept going to the end but they were no match for the home side. In an early attack Timsbury skipper Callum Taylor headed just over while at the other end Saul Gibbs was high and wide with a speculative effort. Timsbury took the lead after 18 minutes when a shot from distance from Rico Sobers took … [Read more...] about Football 23.09.2023: Timsbury Athletic 5 Clutton 0

Roger Bird – a Cricket Club legend

12/09/2023 by Timsbury Parish Council

Roger Bird has been such an influential member of Timsbury Cricket Club for so long that it is difficult to envisage a future without him. He began playing for the club in the 1950s and has fulfilled nearly every position in the club both on and off the field. As a player he was a fearless and outstanding wicket-keeper and was still playing well into his seventies. So much of his work, however, revolved around his encouragement for the young players in the club both as a youth organiser and … [Read more...] about Roger Bird – a Cricket Club legend

Cricket: 2.09.2023

04/09/2023 by Timsbury Parish Council

After a season plagued by wet weather the sun shone for the final game of the season but there were no celebrations for Timsbury who lost by two wickets away to Old Bristolians Westbury to finish in the bottom two of the Bristol and District League Senior Division. It was a tantalisingly tight finish to the campaign with their close rivals Hanham winning their match by just one wicket with one ball to spare. Not for the first time Timsbury owed a huge debt to Mark Sage who batted throughout the … [Read more...] about Cricket: 2.09.2023

Cricket 26.8.2023

28/08/2023 by Timsbury Parish Council

Timsbury notched up a crucial three-wicket win at home to Hanham in the Bristol and District League Senior Division, a result that could have a big bearing on the relegation issue at the foot of the table.  It enabled Timsbury to leapfrog their opponents and with one game remaining they are six points ahead of the Bristol side. After being asked to bat first Hanham struggled to get any partnerships together before Luke Stone (30) and Dan Jackson (23) added 44 for the sixth wicket to set up the … [Read more...] about Cricket 26.8.2023

Cricket 29.07.2023

30/07/2023 by Timsbury Parish Council

A fine all-round performance from Gary Pearcy was not quite enough to earn Timsbury victory away to Stapleton in the Bristol and District League Senior Division but they came agonisingly close before losing by two wickets against opponents who are third in the table . After being put into bat Timsbury made a dreadful start and at 33-6 the game looked as good as over. However, Pearcy was joined by teenager Joe Kinnear and together they added 54 vital runs before Kinnear was caught for 22. … [Read more...] about Cricket 29.07.2023

Cricket 8.07.2023

10/07/2023 by Timsbury Parish Council

Timsbury were left bemoaning their luck after suffering a four-wicket home defeat to Bristol Pakistanis in the Bristol and District League Senior  Division. After posting a more than competitive total of 186-9 from their 38 overs the home side were frustrated by a long break for rain which eventually resulted in a late night 20-over contest that was always going to favour the side batting second. The Timsbury innings saw no one batsman go on to make a sizeable score but six of them got into the … [Read more...] about Cricket 8.07.2023
